Most international contractual arrangements in dubious countries arising from mining or oil are settled in Courts in New York. These courts arbitrate and if breaches are found have the power to impose the findings on the companies in question and push for the host countries involved to enforce the rulings. Their power lies in their ability to freeze state assetts in any of the supporting western countries (which is most developed countries).
