There was once a Jewish homeland but not in modern times.
The present one was created by Western powers after ww2.
Our side simply told the Palestinians to piss off and let the Jews take over.
Our side created modern Israel in the area they had inhabited long ago but which was no longer theirs.
And surprise surprise the Palestinians objected to being dispossessed and this festering sore will never heal.
IMO much of the problem between Islam and the West relates directly to our creation of modern Israel.
