sharps: I am a bit tired of engaging with Tiggy - every major European power had an interest in oil once the combustible engine was invented and they realised things like warships, tanks etc. could be powered with it. The Germans in WWII were after the oil in the Middle East as well as in Baku, possibly even that little bit left in the former 'Galitzia' - which is now - I think - Ukraine?

We are now right in between the now old-fashioned 'oils' (Hydrocarbon Man is finished now comes the age of Battery Man or Fusion Man) even in the former transition period from coal to oil people found plenty of ground to argue over, this isn't going to be any different.
