They sensibly pour money into their products. Software is always a case of adding more, either through home-grown inventions or acquisitions.
I can't see that changing; the only thing is that the percentage of revenue that goes to R&D will hopefully become less as revenue grows and profit percentage follows. A similar amount, but a smaller share!
