SIX bidders have lined up for the $100 million sale of telecoms and technology group Commander, which has flung open the doors of its data room very publicly - thanks to a slip-up by its lawyers, Freehills, which revealed the list of interested parties.

A mistake by law firm Freehills revealed who's interested in Commander

Freehills this week sent confidential passwords to almost 100 people connected to companies interested in bidding for some, or all, of Commander's assets.

But in an embarrassing email glitch, each participant in a sale that has been code-named Project Larry was sent the passwords of every colleague, rival and adviser associated with the sale. A copy of the list obtained by The Australian identified six possible bidders, including Commander's most obvious buyer Optus, Telecom New Zealand subsidiary AAPT, regional telco Soul, local listed IT services group CSG, South African information technology services group Dimension Data and a private equity syndicate of CHAMP and TVG.
