6 year terms?

One problem Abbott and any politician in Australia has is that as soon as they win they have to start campaigning for the next election

The logistics are against them in that when they win it takes time to physically get things moving to make changes and implement policy

Maybe an enlightened politician would be willing to make the trade off that we change to 6 year terms but bring in a call back system so that when we are stuck with a BAD government we can do a recall and put their performance to a vote.

It is a crazy system that regardless of how bad the government is that the only recourse that Australians have to remove them is armed insurrection in the streets, surely as a civilized society we can do better

6 years would enable change on a smooth unhurried manner with no panic to get it done quickly before the next election period.
