"Rent money is not dead money if you invest the difference elsewhere" (or something to that effect)
Big problem though as we know most won't do that. Certainly those renting that were on the show have the good life and appear to be doing the right things for securing their future in other ways. I can imagine though that many renters will reach retirement age and will potentially struggle in their retirement as they will still have to pay rent forever, whereas at least those that had it harder buying will have a roof over their head that should be paid for by then.
