PWCS moves to solve Australian exports log-jam
    May 05, 2010 | en.sxcoal.com

'Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS), owned by Xstrata, Idemitsu and Rio Tinto's Coal and Allied Industries, is pushing ahead with a fourth terminal at Newcastle Port, to cope with the forecasted doubling of coal exports over the next five years.

PWCS chairman Michael Harvey said despite huge investment in coal-loading infrastructure, "projected demand for coal exports will take this to another level in coming years", The Australian Financial Review reported.

There were about 39 ships off Newcastle Port waiting to be loaded, 64 at Dalrymple Bay and 22 at the Port of Gladstone.

Rapid investment in coal port expansions are planned for New South Wales and Queensland to keep up with the demand from Asian steelmakers and electricity generators.'

One would think there must now be huge pressures on Qld Govt. to agree to an upgrade of Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal

64 ships waiting to be loaded, if this number is correct, holy cow what an expense
