I mentioned it, but I do want to emphasize that the difference between actual valve geometry in the upgraded Sapien x4 pictured above and the DurAVR is still stark. Edwards may have improved their ability to match the multiple (I'm assuming still 3) bovine pericardium leaflets that are sewn together to make the valve but the geometry of the new Sapien still looks like the old Sapien. The DurAVR's single-piece design is still a radical difference, which should still mean that it opens and closes much differently when compared to the Sapien. But Edwards will be able to heavily market the upgrades and obviously has the resources to do so.
