Hi Gatesy,
I was thinking it would be a tiny order. With 90,000 US troops in Afganhistan, costing $6.7 billion a month, buying 500 mauls for evaluation seems like a rather trivial cost.
Consider the cost of field trials for the xm25 by the army; Congress has approved an additional $24.7 million in funding for 36 new prototype XM25s. Currently, there are five prototypes being tested by Soldiers in Afghanistan.
The xm25 has nothing to do with maul, just shows the money spent by the army on field tests for something the marines already think is to small!
Also worth remembering the 2012 def budget is higher than 2011.
also, this time of year in the US is when they work (just like us in the winter). x'mas-new years isn't the big closed for business for a month deal that it is here. From experience, thanks giving is a bigger deal for many yankes than x'mas. So my point, a real sale for maul or something for the army force protection program could still happen next week or the second week of Jan. After a day at the beach drinking beer it would be nice to see!!!!!
If there are still no 'real sales' by the end of Jan, game over for shareholders imo. The new yorkers will get her.
