Whilst it is true that you do not want to own a stock with deteriorating fundamentals that has piqued the interest of the shorts, it is equally true that at some point all of those shorts must buy the stock back. It wouldn't take too much good news to create a short squeeze forcing all those shorts to buy back the stock, all at a time when long only holders are want to buy. Recent FDA approvals confirm that this form of treatment is valid so no major issues in that regard, other than increased competition. Acrux is also not a single product firm, they have numerous other products which have the potential to grow future earnings. All up whilst I understand the short interest, that is not a bet I'd be happy to take at this point in time.
