UPGRADED AND STILL FLYING – The AMP is flying
along again this morning up another 17c to 777c after jumping 16c yesterday. Just shy of the 800c rumoured bid.
Despite the old bid rumours the only excuse the market can come up with is the prospect of a $900m capital return
to shareholders to be announced with the full year results on February 14th. Citibank Smith Barney has research
out this morning saying a capital return is a “key prong” behind their BUY recommendation. They have lifted their
target price from 790c to 850c today. They talk about a 39c to 51c capital return worth $720-950m. They have
upgraded earnings by 5%.
