Shorters are the smoke, not the fire, for falling share price. Shorters only target stocks with company specific issues, they never short overpriced bubbles with strong fundamentals. I don't know why HC posters keep on saying shorters manipulate the price down, I've watched shortman and many stocks for a long time, and I can say with 100% certainty a falling share price is not caused by shorters pushing it down, in fact shorters like to distribute in a range without pushing the price down, or short a rising stock if they believe it has issues.
When you see a lot of smoke (over 10% short), better do the research for where the fire is.
