From time to time I download the day's trades from Commsec as a CSV file. I do an average, a count and a median on the trades between 4.00 and 4.10pm, and the same on the trades between market open and close.
Consistly i see that the trades during the day are pretty small and there are many of them and in the auction there are many fewer trades and they are around 10 times bigger parcels. I conclude that traders more powerful than a little retail investor like me has the time and deep enough pockets to walk the price down during the day, to snatch a bit more stock at bargain basement prices in the auction ... day after day after day, then an occassional mini-rally.
Am I missing somethin? ATM I think that if some one this big is going to this much trouble to grab shares in LTM, then I'll just hang on until they are finished.
