Where is all of the secure access to water going to come from? Running a nuclear reactor requires enormous amounts of water to run safely. France has had to shut off plants during summer due to both the warming water and the water levels in rivers dropping.
I am sure that the Nationals will explain how keen their farmers are on the massive, massive amounts of water these need in a drought prone country.
This will not lead to any reduction in power bills, and even if they are built, that is power bills in 20-30 years. If they were that committed to Nuclear, they would have been serious about it from 2013 to 2021 when they were in power.
They have no intention to actually build these. They are just fishing for votes, nothing more other than creating FUD for anyone wanting to invest in renewables in Australia, which benefits the coal and oil industries, which in turn creates an incentive for these rich industries to donate to the LNP.
