    Hawke was the only one had the power and authority, the confidence, to tell the unions to stay out of politics and let the politicians deal with the problems the economy were limited by and the difficulties negotiating a path toward opening up to the world trade.

    Beazley and Keating have some of that but nothing like that which Hawke wielded. the rest are mere climbers of the greasy pole.

    similarly with Howard. he was the "heart" of the new Liberals.... he reset Menzies policies in the historical schema and those that followed are just like the Labs, climbers of the greasy pole.

    no ideas, no vision on either side: merely a grab bag of thought bubbles and idiotology these days nursery.

    no wonder you like Palmer.
