Well Ray Kurzweil thinks that pivotal moment will be 2030 due to the exponential growth in technology. I think he is too optimistic and given his age he is probably basing it on the hope that it will happen before he gets too old as he openly stated he does not accept death.
People are underestimating what could happen 2 decades from now. If Peter's invention is the holy grail in AI with the correct architecture, and Brainchip is able to scale up to perform richer cognitive functions in hierarchical order - i.e getting smarter with more neurons added: Then 20 years to train and accumulate knowledge library to create a truly super intelligent machine is actually not that hard to imagine. You just need that break through first - which is what Peter have claimed.
