I've read somewhere that bio tech and AI will accelerate hand in hand. AI will be capable of discovering, simulating and testing new drugs in future in much quicker time frame than what is occurring now.
Take the mapping of the human genome for instance. The first 1% took seven years to complete, but with the progress of computer technology the other 99% only took another 7 years - not 700 years by extrapolating the first 1%. With many expected breakthroughs to come in materials, AI, bio tech, and nano technology it is not hard to imagine that at some point the acceleration will accelerate faster than we can imagine possible now.
