    Crazy to short any solid, dividend paying stock from here, imo. We're far more likely to see a melt up in stocks than a melt down.

    When people realise interest rates on savings and deposit accounts aren't going up for the forseeable future, partly because banks are doing the tightening for the RBA through out of cycle rate hikes, the 8%-ish earnings yields, 5%-ish dividend yields on blue chips are going to look very attractive. Those kinds of earnings yields look very attractive compared to 1% or 2% on deposit accounts.

    Meanwhile as retirees live longer due to advances in medical science, the need for a decent, long lasting income stream becomes ever more urgent. An annuity income stream that goes to zero past a certain age is simply inadequate.

    Needless to say, as blue chips with double digit earnings yields, banks will be prime beneficiaries of any melt up, imo.
