I saw a program on TV the other night about hip and/or knee replacements. These operations cost around $20,000-25000 yet there any hundreds and hundreds of these operations every year in OZ.
So by your presumption that an LVAD is not affordable to those that are dying is not logical. I would say there are plenty of people that could afford an LVAD if push came to shove. Most recipients are 50+ and a large majority would have many assets behind them at that age. I'm sure they could muster 100k dont you think ??
Market is huge. In the order of 5000 BTT and 50,000 DT implants could be done (going by previous reports). Even if 20% could not afford the device as you say, it still leaves a large number that could.
Also, many countries offer reimbursements which will offset much of the cost. Thats my view.
You say you trade VCR. If you have done so previously, why not now ? I mean, its near enough to multi year lows. Some how I think you have no confidence in what you are saying.
