Two and a half years ago I was planning to have an overseas trip with my family. To this day I am so sorry for letting them down for not being able to with all that happened since.
But as is often the case, there is another side - regular overhead planes are scarce and as a result, the air around the region is much cleaner - hence one can see clearly for miles at different vantage points. It has also resulted in moneys not spent to be deployed to local areas and saved endless hours spent in air - (dislike air travel immensely) plus of course could have easily been caught up in being left overseas as many have plus the quarantine impositions. Consequently, missed out on seeing so many things I was planning to see and to show family my roots - plans were to visit at least two countries. All that is now in the past.
One extra bonus is that due to restrictions it allowed a learning curve of cooking using locally sourced and often 'in the wild' produce - produce that others may overlook or don't know about. Turned decidedly into a local and whilst I love travelling (excepting planes, unless no other feasible option), and loved WA on my previous visits, I am now contented to spend more time in my home state where there are also some incredible beaches, wineries, landscape and if so wish the arts and culture and food. Miss some live events but the outdoors is still available in solitude if one wishes and youtube can offer some comfort in virtual visits.
It is interesting how companies that have interests in different states manage somehow to survive and even prosper with restrictions, mandates and economic uncertainties - though in Suvo's case the share price indicates otherwise.
