don't get me wrong.. I'm no Engineer.. I'm medical but have been embedded in this 1.5B hospital construction for a few years now and it is slowly drawing to a close (hopefully)... another 4 months and it will be ready for handover (in theory)... another 6 months and we might be allowed to actually move in ($$ are tight).
Completion/handover date is still 100% important to the construction company (they get a very nice bonus if they finish early and a penalty if they finish late)... however it is the physical and functional measures we really care about when we are given a % completion ... the time deadline ticks away regardless of other matters (strikes/rain/accidents/supply issues/Haystings electrical folding)... the time measure is no real metric in the real world of how complete the project actually is other than a rod on the back of the construction company.
