Yes it was always going to be difficult because when OBS announced the proposed entitlement offer to shareholders at 60 cents per share in October as part of their defence, it was clear the DGR wouldn't have had the money to participate. Were they going to borrow the money? Unlikely. So to some extent the other shareholders fates were seal because of DRG's lack of clout.

As to whether or not the 71.3cents is fair, yes there is a lot of untapped potential in those assets, but SEMAFO also had to raise tens of millions over and above its cash holdings to make the bid. They are one of the biggest players in this African gold space and stretched themselves to make the offer. The alternative road for OBS shareholders would have been long, uncertain and bumpy.

Always a pity to see good gold assets that have been worked up by Aussies fall into the hands of foreigners. Days ago we just saw GMR's high grade resource in Burkina snapped up by a Turkish company, for IMO a very disappointing return for its shareholders.

Unfortunately our capital markets are not very strong in this respect.

Does anyone have an opinion on the merits or otherwise of holding their shares all the way?
