trilogy proposal + amendment proposal

In its 'update' released today, the steering group, stated (among other things), that:

"... In order to reduce costs and eliminate duplication, we have asked Trilogy to contact Terry Hand of the FMF United Group in order to help fund the proposal via one meeting only. ..."

The background is that we have the steering group now seeking support from members of the FMF to support a request to replace City with Trilogy, and we have groups such as the FMF United group (Terry and "Sally" & Co.) who support limited constitutional amendments.

Clearly there is some in each group that support both proposals, but, just as clearly, there will be those in each of the groups who will only support one of the proposals.

The steering group suggests that City will hold two meeting is there are two proposals to be dealt with, so, in order to defray that cost, the amendments to the constitution should be placed on the same request, that is, that is if a member supports only the constitutional amendments, then that members has to support a request for Trilogy too, even if that member does not support Trilogy.

If the steering group really thought that City would be so silly, then I would have thought it proper to ask City what would happen in such a case without assuming that there would be two meetings. I guess, if City said 'one meeting', then the steering committee couldn't hope to get the support of those who support only constitutional amendments.

So, what is the saving for such a concession? at best a postage stamp. The cost of sending 100 requests (which would have been emailed to each member) to City Pacific would only be $.55c each person - a cost which might be offset by a free post reply .. now, does anyone seriously believe with all the money at stake that its good value that a person should support a request for a meeting to consider a matter he/she does not support? all for saving $.55c?

The astonishing thing is that the steering group is out trying to get 100 members to support it when I would have thought that Trilogy itself should have done it - especially after reporting in the media that it had contacted 1000 members, and that such members were not happy with City.

It beginning to look like a real tin pot show now.
