This announcement is quite convincing that the high grade core at the bottom of East Hill at Yandan is actually the beginning of an epithermal system. The fault potentially moving the feeder veins laterally from the current resource would explain termination of mineralogy and gold at depth in East Hill, but obviously makes it difficult to then locate the veins again.

As I noted here these epithermal systems are very difficult to locate at depth and thereby expensive to drill for per oz. Use of modern exploration geophysics techniques will be crucial to orient the drilling campaign and keep costs down. At least with Glen Eva/ESZ, where similar epithermal system/s may exist, Newcrest have allowed plenty of funds to try and intersect the feeder veins with extensive drilling.

Hopefully we will see Newcrest's Mt Coolon drill plans shortly as well, GBM seem to be pumping the news out at the moment after a long quiet period.
