Yes manipulation as usual the dominant force in CUV trading. ASIC data combined with your 73% data shows the massive amount of short interest in Clinuvel each and every day. In such a small, tightly held and otherwise lightly traded company there is no doubt in my mind that this long term manipulation has taken total control of the CUV market and even investor sentiment. The board and managements weird and lacklustre response over time adds to the paradox surrounding what is really a unique and very successful company that is in the strongest position it has ever been in right now and on the verge of transformational events despite the share price being at 7 year lows with Vitiligo not priced in at all, let alone anything else.
Company doing very well fundamentally and with blockbuster phase 3 completion and results not far off, analyst price targets ~100 - 300% higher than here (Ord Minett, Bell Potter, Jefferies). Best comparison stock in a vastly inferior company and massive loss making company called Disc many multiples higher than Clinuvel despite less potential, more risk and enormous insider selling going on at Disc which is only hoping to enter the small EPP market with their lead trial drug. Yet here we are, shorting and shorters controlling the sentiment of the best financially performing small/tiny Biotech there is. Hopefully we don't hear from the company with their regular announcement about 'shareholders' on forums being the reason for their problems. That is always rather naive and silly to hear when with this amount of daily short interest it is highly likely that most of the aggressively negative posters are not shareholders at all - more likely to be related to the short seller themselves IMO or just hoping for a low entry point into CUV. Not doing the buyback and allowing this manipulation to keep rolling on to the detriment of shareholders adds to the weirdness. I'm pretty sure buying 1.5 Million real shares and deleting them will make a positive difference to shareholders - it will certainly help sentiment. In less than two years we have seen the shorting increase by 1.5 Million shares as the share price has declined despite CUV knocking out great profits at ever increasing rates and advancing towards a blockbuster in Vitiligo which is pretty much unheard of in the small/tiny Biotech space. That is 1.5 Million fake sell shares in less than 2 years designed to destroy the CUV share price and sentiment in a tightly held stock with just 50 Million shares on issue (nearly 3 Million open shorts total to be bought back by shorters). The 1.5 Million REAL share buyback remains almost untouched more than one year in despite a major announcement from Clinuvel to the ASX and wider world about this capital distribution which would only use a tiny percentage of massive shareholder cash reserves which I estimate are at about $210 Million now. As always very interesting to watch this one.
