Love your optimism re standard, but I doubt very much it will be looked at as a standard. From my own research and understanding it does not read as a possible "protocol" so for something like this to be a standard it would have to be governed by the IEEE and for it to even begin to be a standard it would have to be rolled out to every infrastructure and integrated with every firmware out there.
But you never know.... would definitely love to be wrong here.
