I am a big supporter of rewarding performance. In this case, being an owner/shareholder of ESG I measure performance by how much the value of my company goes up. The share value of ESG has not performed well for some time and therefore I can't see any reason to reward the directors and management for outperformance if there is none.
On the question of voting for directors, my view is that if you vote down the renumeration report (usually ignored by directors) you should also vote down the reelection of the directors who presented it to the AGM.
