haha - sorry, long term compared to 'day traders'... My long term is 1yr minimum. However, my theory on buying and selling shares is very simple and I follow this 100%:
1 - Buy on a down day or future potential
2 - Set a target buy price AND a target sell price
3 - Don't be greedy and set small achievable targets based on how long you are prepared to hold
4 - take the emotion out of buying and selling based on the above steps
I have followed this for the past 10yrs and am yet to have a loss... A loss on paper, of course! But I hold til it recovers to my sell price target or revised target.
