Yes, Delta is more infectious than the Alpha strain but it's considerably less deadly. Covid is following the natural pattern of viral epidemics with each succeeding strain being more infectious but less deadly. There was a possible complication with htis epidemic in that in rushing to mass vaccinate so early there was a risk that this natural pattern would be disrupted and more deadly strains produced.

And for all those who rejected AstraZeneca's vax for the Pfizer ...well it's now accepted that the Pfizer will need 6 monthly booster jabs to maintain the same level of protection. Such a diminution of effectiveness has not been seen with the AZ vax yet. And, as it uses a different more 'traditional' tech it may be spared this problem.
