While the rage directed at state premiers is understandable (and both Gladys and Dan have proven themselves to be rather ineffective), it is the federal government's ineptitude that is holding Australia back. Most of the rest of the world has moved past COVID, and the only reason Australia has not is because of Scott Morrison's gross negligence, incompetence and inability.

Let's look at the facts:

Countries with ongoing lockdowns in August 2021:
Australia
China
New Zealand

Countries with closed international borders in August 2021, in contravention to the Geneva Convention:
Australia
China
Belarus (not due to COVID)

First world countries have pretty much vaccinated their populations by now, and third world countries have largely (or have had to) let COVID run. In either case, these populations have now achieved 'herd immunity'. Australia's lax and irresponsible approach means that:
-Mass immunity is delayed, leaving the population vulnerable to new COVID variants.
-Continued insistence on lockdowns for as little as one case will soon destroy the economy. (Remember that current figures are retrospective).

IMO, Scott Morrison needs to be put on trial.
