16 November 2009 - Bermuda-based but Oslo-listed liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Golar LNG Energy Ltd (OSL: GOLE) has sold a total 9.6 million shares in Australian LNG Limited (ASX: LNG) to institutional investors for USD11m, thus reducing its stake to 6.3%.

The sale will result in a capital gain of USD8m, Golar Energy said Saturday.

Prior to the transaction, the company held 10.9% in LNG Limited.

The released funds are likely to be invested directly in the Gladstone LNG Fisherman's Landing project in Australia, Golar Energy's CEO Oscar Spieler said.
