    Mechanical Test Engineer

    Ventracor is an international medical device company focused on commercialising the world’s leading ‘artificial heart’ device, the VentrAssist™ Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD). The VentrAssist™ is a new third generation implantable heart device primarily designed as an alternative to heart transplantation for people with cardiac failure.     The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of analytical and problem solving expertise; outstanding attention to detail and intelligent diagnosis skills; and a customer service mentality with a demonstrated emphasise on task closure.

    The role will involve the following:


    Perform mechanical testing of the VentrAssist™ product;
    Generate design verification protocols and reports;
    Develop mechanical test techniques based on appropriate standards;
    Facilitate meetings, and communicate progress;
    Perform and supervise test equipment calibrations;
    Validate design changes;
    Assist in design of test apparatus;
    Purchase and control test equipment as necessary.


    Skills & Experience
    Degree qualified mechanical engineer (or equivalent);
    2 years experience as a mechanical test engineer or similar (5 years preferred);
    Proven problem solving capability;
    Excellent documentation skills;Knowledge of reliability principles and the associated statistics and test methods;
    Experience within a highly regulated environment, including familiarity with the ISO9000 series regulations;
    Able to plan and implement tasks independently.


    It is desirable but not necessary for the candidate to have:


    Experience within the medical device field;
    Some design experience and CAD skills.
