of course its authority to print money comes from the US government by Charter signed off finally by Woodrow Wilson, who ever said it didn't? and Congressional oversight? please.....
the US Congress has been totally undermined by lobby groups who support every Congressional member in one form or another - the point is that monetary policy is determined by the controlling interests of the Federal Reserve due to the impotence of the Congress - hell, the Congress hasn't even voted to go to war in Afghanistan or Iraq - do you really think the Fed cares what Congress thinks?.....
