At about the same time, Jarrah began simulator training, also in Florida but at a different center. By the end of 2000, less than six months after their arrival, the three pilots on the East Coast were simulating flights on large jets.

Only Hanjour had no simulator training on the 767 but did in a 737. However he also gained a commercial pilots licence from the FAA.
To me that is extensive experience when wanting to purely turn a plane around and head for a target.
