Surely with what we hear from some experts, that police are often called to aged care facilities - and, we see report after report of police shooting etc people with mental illness ---

surely police training now should include a placement in both aged care - preferably a dementia unit and also a placement in a couple of mental illness situations - say a locked mental ward and perhaps a group home

perhaps a month in each - spit the dementia into 2 placements and the mental placement into 2 weeks in a ward and 2 weeks in a group home or two

that way they'll get a bit of an idea what they might meet and they'll also get to talk to some old hands who deal with it all the time
