It appears now that the facts of this case have been reviewed, the police officer will be charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.
Whilst I still support the police in general and the good work they do, I wish to retract any support I may have indicated towards this particular police officer and hope the victim makes a full recovery as soon as possible.
