well age catches up with all of us .. but keep up the cycling

anyway on the news the other day was some comment about 10,000 steps per day - and the benefits

Walking as many as 10,000 steps every day is associated with a lower risk of dementia, heart disease, cancer and death.

But while you may already be aware of these benefits to general health, experts have now discovered that a faster pace has positive outcomes that go beyond the total number of steps, based on UK data
    .

it seems that the sweet spot is a miserable 3,800 steps

as few as 3,800 steps per day has benefits, and walking at a faster pace is even better for you..

watso does not count his steps . but times his walks - but each step that watso takes , equates to about a meter ,, ie 1km walk = 1000 steps.

after watso read the article - the next morning he walked 4.5km in 50 minutes (ie 11min/km).. and then this morning the same distance was done in 47 minutes (ie 10.5 minutes/km) - but watso did work up a bit of a sweat

    another interesting read here

    https://www.wellandgood.com/power-walking-for-longevity/

adults 60 and over, between 6,000 to 8,000 steps a day had the greatest effect in decreasing mortality, and for adults less than 60, the range was 8,000 to 10,000 steps per day," writes functional medicine doctor Mark Hyman, MD, in an Instagram post based on the research. For context, every mile consists of about 2,250 steps, so you'd need to walk about three miles to hit the mark. (10,000 steps, meanwhile, is about five miles.)
