    @bankroet - thank you. While making it onto a company board is something I've wondered about, but I suspect its not going to happen as I haven't risen through the corporate ranks in a way that builds a CV to get into such a position. Logistically being located in little old NZ wouldn't help.

    note to above - I'm not aware of CATL having HPMSM development plans, but they have sufficiently broad battery and industry experience that they could recruit the skills necessary and will have extensive networks to all the battery precursor inputs. A number of Chinese companies like CATL are currently key suppliers to western companies currently. If they said they were setting up shop in the US for purification activities, the OEM's would I suspect readily build that into their supply lines. Ford are currently working with CATL on $3.5b LFP battery development in Michigan. While recent Ford/CATL articles quoted LFP, with the development work CATL has done that project may become LMFP. This again raises the question - If that project did morph into LMFP, where is the HPMSM coming from? None of CATL's existing HPMSM suppliers are likely to be Inflation Reduction Act compliant.
