I caught an article on Bloomberg suggesting Google was looking at taking out Skybox (private US low-earth-orbit satellite start-up) for a rumoured price of $1B. This makes a lot of sense; it will really help one of Googles key inhibitors....frequency of updates. Skybox has 1 or 2(?) in orbit (600km) after raising some US$85m over the past decade or so and plan to has 28 of these mini-satellites in orbit to be able to cover all aspects of the globe at least several times a day. But it still wont be able to touch NEAs resolution and accuracy for industry quote purposes.

The industry is certainly moving and I'd expect NEA to be part of that.
