reading on the skybox site, looks like their images are described as 'sub metre' resolution. Couldn't find out how sub they mean, but say 70cm would make Nearmap's 7cm ten times better.
It's not always about res either, due to atmospheric disturbance, things like dynamic range/contrast and colour become important as well.
This would be good for GE imagery that is years old, but would struggle to deliver resolution that Nearmaps existing and future customers want, eg Western Power looking for trees needing trimming in the powerline easements, or anything else smaller than can be represented by a pixel that is as wide as 1 metre.
