Hi Chris
I was lobbying senior politicians about the need for masks back in March. I got nowhere.
I'm an old risk manager and I have oversighted pandemic response exercises in the past BUT I don't have a medical or science degree. Presumably I was categorised with all the other arm chair epidemiologists in the ignore folder.
Sadly there are plenty of so-called health administrators (with qualifications) that couldn't think beyond the limited capacity of a mask to protect the wearer. The correct message was always about protecting everyone else from the wearer.
Moving forward, masks should be mandated in city centres, shops, public transport and crowded areas. Even an old tea towel would do the trick.
Sydney needs to move immediately on this.
