I don't agree with your statement "Shame all this is happening while we are going through a global cool down.".
No economic commentator looking at the global economic scenario would agree with that statement at the moment - the USA may be off the boil, but in comparison with Asia the USA has been tepid for years!
In Australia, some economic commentators are even saying that a US recession may have little effect on Australia (Alan Kohler for one), due to the change/shift in major trading partners (due to the China boom, the India boom, the Asia boom, in general and the rise of the EC.
