A good example is Central Petroleum Ltd (CTP), which on Friday notified the ASX of a coal discovery in one of its leases.

Directors are hoping that the find will become a coal seam gas (CSG) or an underground gasification project.

Central Petroleum holds and operates a highly prospective portfolio of under-explored onshore acreage, with a variety of exploration plays spread over a number of basins, one of which hosts producing fields.

Very importantly, it seems no longer the case that only the very large discoveries can be economically developed.
