***this is a copy of my post from a similarly named thread, I am just wanting a new thread because I didn't realise I have written a long-ish post, and anyway want to dignify my bloated post with it's own text, probably beacuse I have never initiated a thread, and am curious about the procedure... ***
Happy to agree wholeheartedly "Dragone" some very good points there - with just one caveat - its not just any minor technical breakout.
From my advanced amateur study of the dark (joking) technical arts, a SUPREME technical breakout has occurred.
Also, in reply to "brettlt" inquisitive post, there are a few aligned stars that have (in my opinion) produced the
spike from the 90c area to the $1.30-ish mark today:
1.) Several mining stocks have had tech breakouts in the June-August period (one example is SLR - downtrend reverses to uptrend). Reason here being a major change to expectations of more monetary stim in the US of A.
2.) BTR may have already had that June-August upswing WERE
IT NOT for the capital raising WE HAD TO HAVE! I did not
agree with it for 1 reason only - TIMING! This should have
taken place in JANUARY-FEBRUARY - they should have hit the
proverbial metal when it was running white hot from the
superb copper discovery at Mumbwa back then!
( However, not a bad thing for stubborn management to resist cap raising till they REALLY FELT IT NECESSARY!!)
((Here I do agree 100% with Zachary's multiple posts on the issue!)
3.) The main commodity here is copper, HOWEVER, BTR & Glencore are in the final stages of FULL RAMP UP of the promising PERKOA ZINC (& now SILVER/LEAD) project in WestAfrica. With construction largely complete, this project has the potential to be sequentially enlarged and quite profitably produce a mix of the above 3metals in concentrate. A steady, dependable earner of cashflow.
4.) With China being the fastest growing consumer of copper, for industrialisation and construction uses, it was of great relief to see the export numbers posted over the weekend past actually holding ground, and beating expectations.
Copper is (from my observations) the number one base metal on the investment radar for fund managers. There have been growing rumbling concerns that SHOULD China OVER-slow its economy, copper's perceived FUTURE supply deficit might be erased quicker than many have forecast. The worry was that INSPITE of falling grades at major producers - such as in South America - the demand side might drop quicker.
China's export numbers, and ALL important GDP release (again during the weekend past) have considerably soothed fears over investment in resources, and in the Aussie market more generally.
I strongly feel it is no coincidence that the ALL ORDS
index has broken decisively above the bug bear mark of 4500 this week! My belief of higher highs there strengthens with each passing day we hold above 4500! a rate cut in November wouldn't hurt : )
5.) Final point here, is the NO1 reason I am so enamoured with BTR's future, and really is the proverbial "ace in the hold". BTR (again in my capacity as an amateur geological enthusiast) may have just stumbled upon a gigantic copper find. Im sorry if I sound too excited, i very strongly believe there is a very large copper system with a large core, and just as importantly, multiple -similar size and grade- satelite deposits in close proximity. For the moment I have forgotten the technical term for this type of system, I will return with it - havent read the announcemnt from the 4.5% 220m hit for several months... IOCG i think it was called.. IronOxideCopperGold Porphry system, there I do remember! Sweet! ANYWAY, IOCG systems around the world, especially the comparable in size to BTR's apparent find DO TEND TO HAVE MANY SATELITES that are economic to exploit.. I am on the edge waiting for the next Kakozhi drill results!
to conclude, capital raising completed, BTR is cashed up to continue to explore what BHP believed for 4years may be a very important discovery, in a proven copper/gold province.
PS. thank goodness for the perseverance of all the Ex-BHP gents (management) that have really turned this company around from the long ago AIM days...
