For those that are relatively new to COZ:

COZ has accreditation from the NSW's Abatement Scheme and now has C/wlth govt Greenhouse accreditation - Macquarie is backing COZ all the way.

Importantly, mnay may not realise that Gabor Holdings Pty Ltd increased its interest in CO2 Group Ltd on March 30 from 67.7 million (35.8pc) to 83.1 million shares (37.9pc).It is an extremely tight stock hence the volatility.

The inclusion of corporate manouvering into this sector has been widespread this year (apart from Woodside):

    Eg:

Technology services group EDS has announced plans to slash its greenhouse gas emissions in Australia and New Zealand.

The company wants to reduce carbon use by 25 per cent within the next three years. EDS will buy carbon offset credits from CO2 Australia and establish a voluntary program for employees to offset their private emissions from their homes or cars, with their contributions matched dollar for dollar by EDS.

It will replace domestic air travel with video-conferencing where possible, and review power consumption and recycling practices.

EDS Australia managing director Chris Mitchell practises what he preaches - he is installing a grey-water system at home and has timers on his electrical appliances.

But he says his big green dream is also a practical move that will bring in business from customers implementing their own environment-friendly processes - and save the company money. For instance, a review of company travel found 1000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions were wasted every year on pointless flights.

"We tend to just jump on a plane for a meeting lasting a few hours," Mr Mitchell said. "Instead we're going to pump our video-conferencing up to the next level."

EDS expects to reduce domestic air travel by 20 to 30 per cent, and international travel is next on the hit list. A vigorous carbon reduction plan is an economic, as well as environmental, imperative, he said.

Also yesterday, the Ethan Group announced what it claims is Australia's first IT-based carbon emissions reduction program for Australian corporates. The program is a blueprint for Australian companies interested in reducing carbon emissions ahead of future carbon trading plans.

Also in February the planning beacme very clear:

FIRST movers establishing the infrastructure for an Australian carbon-trading market will face battle-hardened teams from investment and commercial banks if a trading scheme is introduced.

Two of Australia's four largest banks are operating desks overseas from which they intend to import lessons should a trading system be imposed in Australia.

Westpac owns and runs the energy trading desk left behind by Enron's collapse, while ANZ has a desk established to help its business clients comply with trading systems in place in Britain and the European Union.

Most investment banks working in those regions — including ABN Amro, Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, Dresdner Kleinwort, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and others — also have emissions trading desks as part of their global infrastructure.

National Australia Bank boss John Stewart sits on the Prime Minister's Task Group on Emissions Trading, and the bank has set up a "carbon solutions group" to develop products for carbon-sensitive clients.

In 2003, NSW established one of the first mandatory emissions trading schemes in the world. Energy retailers in NSW must participate in programs to offset carbon emissions.

But Ken Edwards, director of energy trader Nextgen, said small players still dominated the market.

He said the emissions market in Australia was following the "traditional development of markets", under which first movers carved out space for the industry before large corporate traders move.

    NB:

Intellectual property is intangible - as well as design. Legal agreements, carbon accounting, accreditation etc is much the same. Their skill sets are carbon accounting and plantings and the recognition has now been provided.

Therefore climate change is a fascinating market regarding carbon crediting and now is in the boardroom across Australia hence the reason why the carbon market will expand into commercial economies of scale. Energy generators and mining companies will all fall into line where liabilties will be occurred due to emissions.

Key priorities are growth in major clients including Macquarie's clients - expanding the model and growing the client base with future international accreditation. This signifies COZ has reached a major milestone which will no doubt mean they will embark on a period of rapid growth into 07/08.

    Luck to you.
