Infose, you really don't know what you are talking about on this.

Austrian School Economics is not a political ideology, it is the science of economics which explains not what should or shouldn't be done, just what the consequences will be of certain action. It is not only the longest continuous school of economics, but it has indisputably the best track record when it comes to predictive power. And it is the only economic school of thought that is based on logic / deduction and not on empiricism and aggregates.

Anarcho-capitalist (think Doug Casey, Rothbard), libertarians (think Ron Paul), constitutionalists (Rand Paul?), conservatives (i.e. the actual ones, not the RINO republicans of today who just pretend), ARE political philosophies. Proponents of any of these philosophies hold views on policy and politics - and any one of them may or may not understand Austrian Economics.

Unregulated financial markets to blame?!!! Name a time in history when there has been more regulation than now? You really think a free market would allow the debt loads you see around the world, the housing bubble, the systemic risk? The market is not unregulated, it is both regulated and RIGGED! And the existence of central bank(s) and an unbacked monetary system is the foundation that this is built on.

For anyone that is under the false belief that 'the unfettered free market' is to blame for the 2008 crash (and the current impending disaster), read 'Meltdown' by Tom Woods, or even easier listen to this great interview from April 2009 about the book

or this one before the event in 2007 from P Schiff

    http://www.financialsensearchive.com/Experts/2007/Schiff.html

Both are fantastic interviews and worth a listen.

Final note: posting references to Paul Krugman doesn't really help any ones credibility - he is nothing more than an establishment schill and is either a liar or an idiot, take your pick.

    The other Ben

p.s. All4One - Although it is correct to say that the Fed is not technically state owned, it is definitely not a private entity and it undoubtedly does the bidding of the politicians and the banksters alike. You do probably realize this and I see the point you are trying to make.
