A bland new world

The persistent and repeated theme of university administrations throughout the western world for some time past has been the restructuring of tertiary education away from the goals of challenging and opening the mind to the whole gamut of human experience and learning towards a closing off of many channels through this new concept of narrowing the experiences by introducing "triggers" which allow and encourage students not to expose themselves to various materials.

How ridiculous is this for example:
"There is a trigger warning imposed by the University of Warwick for Thomas Hardy’s “Far From the Madding Crowd” because of its depiction of “rural life". (I had to correct the English at a couple of points here, which is like a Freudian slip)

This type of thing may seem insignificant but taken together the whole range of such actions of "creative wokeness", the sheer mass of it, is deeply deeply disturbing.

Get down on your knees and be thankful if you received your education before they started to close minds.

    A most timely article.
