The price of gold could easily go up but is Platina the best stock to lever against the gold price? Take Perseus for example. Its discoveries in Ghana are at a more advanced stage, opencast, in a proven and established gold mining area. Resource size and yield reasonable, something like an estimated $350/oz production cost. If gold goes up there is a good chance silver will do better. The gold/silver ratio is out of proportion to historical prices. Silver is getting scarcer. Cxc may offer good leverage to silver it is under going rapid expansion and it is said that for every 10% increase in Ag price there profits increase by 30%. I have an idea the main use for platinium and palladium is in emission control catylsts I dont know anything about the technology what alternatives or competing substitutes there are but pollution reduction will be big in the future. But these metals are a relatively minor part of the ores value, byproducts.
Platina could easily turn out a good investment, I reckon its cool but I cant see any sound reasons to take a stake at this stage.
