I think also that the gold market has pretty much fully factored in an early conclusion to Iraq. Therefore there is little downside left as the final phase of the war plays out.

I have been surprised how much of an Iraq factor there was in the price. If anything the gold market now appears exposed to upward moving shocks if the war doesnt play out as expected.
